You want to go on a backpacking trip, but don’t have time to research water sources and backcountry camping rules, or even where to go. No problem! I will provide a full itinerary with everything you need to know, including gear lists, required fees, etc.
How it Works
We will have a brief consultation (either by email, on zoom, or in person, or whatever works for you). Generally lasting about an hour. You tell me your previous experience.
You tell me what you’d like out of this backpacking trip. You just want to get away from people for three days. You’d like to peakbag some 4000-footers. It’s your first backpacking trip and you want to stay at a hut.
You tell me how many days and when you’d like to go.
I take all of that into consideration and give you a custom backpacking itinerary and guide.
What you Get
- Trip recommendation
- Trail summary, aka summits and which trails to take
- Detailed turn-by-turn trail description, including known water sources and camping spots
- Parking information
- Backcountry dispersed camping regulations for your trip
- Any applicable fees, such as Caretaker fees for AMC campsites
- Weather forecast and updates as the date of your trip approaches
- Map information, including a link to your route on Gaia maps
- Trail conditions (if available) and updates as the date of your hike approaches
- Estimated times, including emergency turn around time
- Gear lists specific to the trail and weather/conditions
- After plans – suggestions for where to grab a burger or beer after your hike
- Emergency contact – I can be the person who knows your itinerary and will call NH Fish and Game if you don’t check in at the appointed time (something every hiker should always have!)
- Turn by turn cards or images for your phone

What it costs
The initial consultation is one time only, so I can give you the best recommendations specifically for you, and is $75. Backpacking trips depend on the number of days/hikes and start at $50.
